Performing

Trinity McHellen is a versatile percussionist and drummer who plays all types of music, from orchestral percussion to jazz to commercial playing, which were developed in her time studying at the University of North Texas. Now, she plays all around the Dallas - Fort Worth area, and with the 395th Army Reserve band.

  • Having over a decade of experience as a percussionist, Trinity has played in ensembles such as the UNT Brass band under the direction of David Childs, playing with featured artist such as Tony Baker and Raquel Samayoa. She has played in addition ensembles such as the New Life Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Brass Band. Currently, she plays in the 395th Army Band.

  • Studied under renowned Latin percussionist and educator José Aponte, Trinity has honed in her skills on congas, bongos, and more as a member of ensembles like the Latin Jazz Lab Band, Afro-Cuban groups, and the 2 O'Clock Steel Band. Her time at UNT also included the opportunity to share the stage with acclaimed artists such as Arturo O'Farrill.

    Today, Trinity performs across Dallas-Fort Worth and throughout Texas as a percussionist with groups such as Yolanda Cruz & the Daydreamers, Ceci Ceci, and a variety of Latin and commercial music projects.

  • Having studied under great drum set players such as Stockton Helbing, Jose Aponte, Steve Barnes, and Quincy Davis, Trinity is a prolific drummer in both commercial and jazz settings. You can hear her play all around the DFW area in a variety of party bands and venues, as well as with the 395th Army Band.
